My illustration was a reaction to the anti abortion bill being passed in Sejm. It was my sign of protest and an expression of the strength of women. Women in Poland are heartily fed up with life in the patriarchy and the fact that a group of middle-aged Catholic priests and envoys dictate the terms and make the rules. We are deprived of the right to decide about our own life, as well as a sense of security and dignity in the name of someone else’s religious beliefs.

 

I used the motif of the red lightning bolt, a symbol of the protest, designed by Ola Jasionowska.
